King Belshazzar threw a feast for a thousand nobles. To show off, he sent for the gold cups his grandfather had stolen from God's temple. Everyone drank from them while praising idols.
Mid-toast, the fingers of a human hand appeared and wrote on the plaster wall. The king turned pale, his knees shook, his legs gave out.
Daniel was called in. 'Numbered, numbered, weighed, divided. Your days are over. The kingdom goes to the Medes and Persians.' That night the city fell. Belshazzar was killed.
