A Teenager With a Sling Walked Toward a Nine-Foot Soldier
For forty days a Philistine champion named Goliath — nine feet, six inches of bronze armor and trash talk — stomped into the valley and dared Israel to send a fighter. Nobody volunteered. King Saul's whole army was frozen.
Then a teenager showed up with bread and cheese for his older brothers. David heard the giant's taunts and asked, basically, 'Why is everyone just standing here?' Saul tried to put royal armor on him. David shrugged it off — he'd never worn any.
He walked into the valley with a shepherd's sling and five smooth stones from a creek. Goliath laughed. David didn't. One stone, one swing, one direct hit to the forehead. The giant dropped face-first.
David grabbed Goliath's own sword and finished the job. The Philistine army broke and ran. A kid with a sling rewrote the war.
