Peter swore he'd die for Jesus. Jesus said, 'Before the rooster crows tonight, you'll deny me three times.'
Hours later, while Jesus was being tried, Peter warmed himself by a fire. A servant girl said, 'You were with Him.' Peter: 'I don't know the man.' Twice more, same answer, getting louder.
The rooster crowed. Jesus turned and looked right at him. Peter ran out and wept bitterly. Three days later, the risen Jesus would ask him three times: 'Do you love me?' Once for each denial.
