A lawyer asked Jesus, 'Who is my neighbor?' Jesus answered with a story. A man got jumped, robbed, beaten, and left for dead on a dangerous road.
A priest walked past on the other side. A temple worker walked past on the other side. Then a Samaritan โ a group the listeners hated โ stopped, cleaned the wounds, loaded him onto his donkey, and paid for a room.
Jesus asked the lawyer, 'Which of these was a neighbor?' The lawyer couldn't even say the word 'Samaritan.' He said, 'The one who showed mercy.' Jesus said, 'Go do the same.'
