Cain farmed. Abel kept sheep. Both brought offerings to God. Abel brought the best of his flock. Cain brought… some produce. God accepted Abel's. Cain's, not so much.
Cain's face fell. God warned him: 'Sin is crouching at your door. Master it.' Cain instead invited his brother out to the field and killed him.
God asked, 'Where's your brother?' Cain shot back the most famous deflection in history: 'Am I my brother's keeper?' He was marked, exiled, and sent wandering.
