Moses, on the run for murder, was 80 years old and herding sheep in the desert. He spotted a bush on fire that wasn't burning up and walked over to investigate.
God's voice came out of it: 'Take off your sandals โ this is holy ground.' Then: go back to Egypt and free my people. Moses tried five excuses. God shut down every one.
He walked away with a stick, a stutter, and a brother named Aaron as backup. Forty years of sheep had just become his prep school.
